Tonight I had a mini girl’s night with the lovely Heather. We went to see “Fresh” a documentary about food, agriculture and what we are doing to our bodies and mother nature. We had the opportunity to view the documentary for free at the Fayetteville Public Library.
I have a vested interest in what I put into my body and the effects of food on my moods. Certain foods make me feel heavy and others make me feel energized. I try to combine these foods for the best nutritional value as well as for my well being. Pasta and potatoes along with chicken and beef make put me in food coma. Knowing this I add salad (mostly lettuce and corn) along with fruit into my meals. If I know that the dinner I am making is going to be ‘heavy’ I will try and drink juice instead of milk, or just water. For my breakfast meal I try to keep it light, although I notice that oatmeal fills me up and yet gets me energized, unlike eggs and bacon. Knowing how food has an effect on my mood means that I also try and eat food that has the least amount of hormones, antibiotics, etc as possible. There are times when doing so means I have to be frugal with other aspects of my life but overall I think its worth the money. Ideally I would love to have my own garden, but since that is not a current possibility I make due with what I have and window shop online for those indoor garden thingies. 
I do plan on buying one but I need to find one I love and think I can easily take care of. I would hate to think that the great granddaughter of tobacco farmers wouldn’t know how to grow a tomato or lettuce. So I am making sure I know what I am getting into by researching it and feeling comfortable with the process.
Overall tonight was nice and the movie motivated me to keep finding out more about how I can do my part to reduce my carbon footprint and how to keep my loved ones and I healthy. Thanks Heather for sending me the info and letting me go with you! I hope Bronson likes his slightly used Harry Potter outfit!
