Bikes, Blues & BBQ

This week on Exploring My Surroundings: BBB in Fayetteville

Thursday night we rode down to Dickson St to take in the sights; motorcycles. It was a very interesting experience for me considering I haven’t seen that many bikes all in one place in person. With those bikes come some interesting bunch of people….if interesting is the correct adjective to use. Some youngsters were on crotch rockets while mostly everyone else were on some great looking bikes. I didn’t bring my camera with me since we were in Will’s motorcycle but how I wish I had brought it.

Later on that night, after much walking around and people watching we headed to Smoke and Barrel to have a sit down and have a beer. Just before we did that my darling, adorable and awesome beau bought me a motorcycle helmet! I had been using an extra one he has but it is a bit small for my head. Its a dark navy blue with some purple hues…I will def have Will take a picture of me whenever we go riding again. We enjoyed the fire show outside of the bar and then went inside to have a sit. There we bumped into two of Will’s guy friends and their ladies. We hung out for a bit and then went down to see Ben Miller band playing at the parking lot across the street from the Walton Arts Center. I am a huge fan of music, and even though I have genres I dislike, I am a fan of blue grass and folk music. It is amazing the sound the bassist makes with just one red string tied to a stick and to a wash tub! One of the other bandmates plays the wash board, trumpet, mandolin, etc and then theres the main singer who plays the guitar, banjo and even the drums. I suggest you get to see them live, its a great experience, and if you want to here some of their songs (I think the ones they played were much better than the ones listed on their site) then I suggest you visit their site. We called it a night after a few songs, we both had early mornings to prepare for.

Saturday night I met up with the Empsalls at BBB and this time I did bring my camera. Bronson is built in entertainment! I know Heather might not think so, then again it is her son, but I get a kick out of just talking to Bronson and hearing the things that come out of his mouth! I know he can be a handful but he def loves his mom and dad and does a good job of listening to them. I taught Bronson how to walk in slow motion and I hope he uses it in the future…hahaha.

We did a few laps around the area so that Bronson could take in the noise and all the freaking motorcycles, and good Lord they were tons and tons of them. We ate some Gelato too before we headed back to the car. I accompanied them for some lite shopping. I could so tell poor Bronson was running on reserves because that kid looked pooped out and was in the hyper part right before the burn out. I am sure he passed out on the ride back to West Fork. In any case I had a great time with the Empsalls and thanks Heather for letting me tag along! Below are a few pictures of the Empsalls!

IMG_4317I have no clue why there were 2 guys in opposite corners of the intersection with huge crosses but I think this a cool shot. I even made the SUPER lame joke “That must be a heavy cross to bear” to Heather, but I think she got a kick out of my lameness.
